Welcome to the Gender Action Project's (GAP) new blog. We're busy trying to make it all cool and stuff so if you have any suggestions please feel free to leave a comment.
Super stuff, this is. I'm glad we now have things and places for content etc. Few suggestions: 1: MOAR PURPLE POWER! lol, okay, that might be taking it a tad too far. but srsly, now. 1: Maybe have the logo up top to the left of "The GAP" 2: The Blog is a little text heavy. I know we're clevers and we want us to read and talk about very important things, but I just find it a little overwhelming. Maybe post an intro thing and have a read more link. 3: More pictures! I like to see things and then read up on them s'more. 4: Everybody (Me included) put fresh and new material all the time.
Okay, great stuff. I've put my 2c's worth. Muchos,
Based in Grahamstown on the Rhodes University Campus, The Gender Action Project (GAP) is a society which seeks to address issues related to sex, gender, sex- and gender-based violence, and to do advocacy work related to these issues. The primary aim is to encourage dialogue and debate in order to build solidarity. GAP engages in advocacy work internally i.e. on the Rhodes University campus, as well as externally. External advocacy work is linked to that of national campaigns, such as the One in Nine campaign. Currently GAP is affiliated with the Makana Rape Survivors Support Group, and has a representative on their committee. GAP’s politics and philosophies are based on feminist principles, though we do not ask our members to conform to one specific ideology. GAP’s only requirement is that it be agreed upon that women have been oppressed by social, cultural and political structures based solely but not exclusively on their sex, and that this situation needs to change.
yay :)
